What to Expect When Working with Intrepid Literary
Work that Matters
Many of our clients work with us for many years and on multiple books. We care deeply about our work and our authors' success, moving past simply fixing what's on the page and instead seeing what's not there and working to bring the book to its full potential.
We expect everyone on our team to work with the understanding that their work has impact, and could likely be the tipping point between someone getting published or not.
Flexible Work Arrangements
We hire on a per-project basis, allowing for a greater degree of flexibility for our team members and ensuring we bring on those best suited for each project.
Many use this flexibility to work with Intrepid outside of their day jobs, alongside their own writing projects, or to take on as many projects as their schedules allow. And of course, we're fully remote, so you're free to work from wherever suits you best.
No Client Management
You won't be required to interact directly with authors - no emails, calls, contract negotiations, or payment delays here.
We serve as your shield from all the rogue client energy that tends to wreak havoc on creative projects all too often. In fact, many of our team members choose to run their other projects through us so they can avoid the headaches of client management!
You're never on your own when you work with Intrepid. Each piece of a project brings in a different team member's expertise, so you'll be able to build your work on a solid foundation.
A senior team member will also be available should you run into any issues or need to bounce a big idea off of someone, and each project includes a team meeting at the end so we can have an open discussion about how it went and any opportunities we might consider.
Opportunity for Growth
Our best editors are often offered Senior Editor status, allowing them access to more projects including one-on-one strategic work with authors to help them conceptualize their books, and manage the book’s vision and strategy through the rest of its creation.
We also love rewarding talent and initiative; many team members have become so valuable that we elevate them into new roles, involving them in exploring new and inventive ways to create fantastic books.
