Consulting
"I've gone through the editorial process and think my manuscript is just about done. Now I need help getting it out into the world."
Submission Package Review
You only have one chance to impress an agent or a publisher; don't let a weak submission package sabotage all of your hard work. As someone who used to read through submissions daily, I know what agents and publishers want when looking for new work. I'll work with you on your package (typically a query letter, synopsis, and the first ten pages of your manuscript for fiction; a business plan, synopsis, and sample chapters for nonfiction) and perform a close line edit, paying attention to everything from the promise of the book to word choice, making sure that your submission will stand out from the crowd. We'll finish with a conversation during which you can ask me any questions about the edits or the submission process.
Agent Recommendations
After a consultation during which we discuss your ideal agent, I will use industry resources to compile a list of agents who would be a good match for you and your book. This list will also include the agents’ contact information and submission requirements.
Publishing Consultation
Have questions about the publishing industry? Not sure if you should seek traditional publishing or go with self publishing? Schedule a one-hour "introduction to publishing" consultation during which I'll answer all of your questions and give you guidance on getting an agent, publishing trends, how the publishing process works, how to build an audience, self-publishing, and more. We'll have an hour-long conversation where you can ask me anything and everything about the industry, after which I'll give you actionable advice tailored to your situation.
