Book Coaching
"I've got a great idea for a book but need help developing and structuring my ideas before I can sit down to write it."
Nonfiction
Book ConceptingI will work closely with the Author to create the book’s overall concept by researching the current company and brand, conducting market research on similar books, and using that information to create the prospective book’s tone, visual concept, and overall structure.
|
Book DevelopmentI will work closely with the Author to create a detailed outline of the book that uses the previously conceived structure to create chapter titles, sample chapters, and content that will be used for the proposal. This also includes editing content I will receive from the Author.

Creative BrainstormingWhat you have: An idea for a story.
What you need: Feedback on an idea to determine its viability before diving into a project; guidance on how to move forward with writing a book. What you'll receive: We'll discuss your idea in depth, analyzing its strengths and opportunities for growth. Together we'll create an outline that highlights major story and character arcs, and I'll provide guidance on how to build a more detailed chapter-by-chapter outline. We'll discuss your characters, and I'll suggest ways to develop them. If you provide a writing sample ahead of time, I'll provide a writing analysis and suggest ways to strengthen your writing, as well as exercises to complete that will enhance your story. I'll also recommend comparative titles for you to read that will help further your ideas. You'll leave with clear steps on how to complete your project along with deadlines that will keep you moving forward. If you'd like, we can continue working after this point on a deadline-based coaching basis, where I hold you to a writing schedule complete with regular check-ins, guidance, motivation, and feedback. Creative brainstorming coaching can range from a one-hour conversation (idea feedback and outline creation), a few hours (idea feedback, outline creation, writing analysis, overall book guidance), to the duration of your writing project (deadline-based coaching). |
Story DevelopmentWhat you have: An outline for a story; a draft you'd like to rework.
What you need: A plan for writing a solid draft; a coach to keep you on track while writing. What you'll receive: We'll begin with a conversation during which we'll discuss what you have so far and what you'd like to do with it. I'll ask for an outline or a draft (even a rough one works at this stage) ahead of time so that I can do a developmental edit that will highlight sections that need work, ideas to nurture, and the quality of your pacing. Based on this, we'll talk about how to develop your plot, writing style, and characters to build a strong story. I'll also recommend comparative titles for you to read that will help further your ideas, as well as exercises that will improve your writing style and enhance your story. You'll leave with clear steps on how to complete your project, along with deadlines that will keep you moving forward. If you'd like, we can continue working after this point on a deadline-based coaching basis, where I'll hold you to a writing schedule complete with regular check-ins, guidance, motivation, and feedback. Depending on the nature of the project, coaching can range from a few hours of work (story development coaching) to the duration of your writing project (deadline-based coaching). |
