Intrepid Literary was founded by longtime publishing insider Lauren Taylor Shute after years inside New York’s top traditional houses revealed a hard truth: the most creative, transformative work on a book happens long before it ever reaches a publisher’s desk. With experience at Hachette Book Group and Hyperion Books, Lauren saw firsthand how many powerful ideas were overlooked simply because authors lacked early access to the kind of editorial strategy and support reserved for marquee titles. Today, Intrepid Literary brings that level of expertise to writers at the stage when it matters most—partnering closely with authors recognizing that great books aren’t just edited, they’re architected. Based in New York City, Lauren leads a trusted team of editors and publishing professionals to help authors shape, refine, and prepare books that are built to last and meant to be read.
